Darren McFadden News
Arkansas, North Texas trying to recover from rough late stretches
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - North Texas coach Todd Dodge has lamented his team's difficulty closing out games. But those laments could just as easily have come from Arkansas coach Houston Nutt.
The Razorbacks have wasted fourth-quarter leads each of the last two weekends.
The two coaches face each other tomorrow night in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Both will seek the elusive goal of 4 quarters of quality football from their teams.
The 1-2 Razorbacks dropped its first two Southeastern Conference games to Alabama and Kentucky rallies and fell out of the Top 25 along the way.
Those defeats overshadowed marvelous performances by Heisman Trophy candidate Darren McFadden, who is averaging 173 yards rushing per game. Darren McFadden has a chance to lead the nation in that category - the way the Mean Green's Jamario Thomas did in 2004.
Now a senior, Thomas rushed for 117 yards last week in a 30-20 loss to Florida Atlantic. The Owls rallied from a 20-13 deficit at the start of the fourth quarter to keep North Texas winless after three games.
