The Oakland Raiders signed linebacker Kamerion Wimbley to a new contract on Monday.
Wimbley, who led the Raiders with nine sacks last year, agreed to a five-year, $48 million deal, according to multiple sources. He was slapped with the franchise tag back in February and was scheduled to receive $10.151 million for the upcoming season.
The Florida State product spent four years in Cleveland before joining the Raiders last year and has recorded 35 1/2 sacks in 79 games.
"He's a tremendous young player and has nothing but an unbelievable upside ahead of him," Raiders head coach Hue Jackson said of the 27-year-old.
Wimbley has missed just one game in his five-year career.
