McFadden cleared to play in Cotton Bowl
Darren McFadden has been cleared to play in the Cotton Bowl against Missouri.
Completing its review of allegations reported by KARK-TV in Little Rock on Thursday that Darren McFadden maybe have been in violation of NCAA rules in the use of a Cadillac Escadrille SUV, the University of Arkansas released this statement on Monday afternoon:
“The University of Arkansas has conducted a thorough review of allegations reported in the media concerning Darren McFadden. Based upon the institution’s review, Mr. Darren McFadden remains eligible and will participate in the 2008 AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.
“The University will have no further comment regarding this matter.”
Almost before it was widely known, KARK issued a public apology, acknowledging that at least some of the “facts” as reported were not true.
At the time, the station’s news director also stated there might be “a thread of truth,” in the situation. The Arkansas statement rebutted even that.
