UCA, Arkansas State Pick Up in State Talent
In a State where we have two Division 1 and two Division 1AA schools, most of the attention goes to the University of Arkansas, but there are three other D1 schools to look at. Arkansas State, the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, and the University of Central Arkansas also picked up some fine In State talent. Let's review their pick ups.
Dewayne Watts is one of many other In State recruits who stayed home in Arkansas to play D1 football
Let's start with UCA. The Bears picked up some solid In State recruits on signing day, starting with Bentonville's RB Anthony Blackmon who is 5-foot-10, 180 lbs. The Bears also picked up Terrence Bobo the 6-foot-0 200 lb Athlete from Atkins, as well as Larry Duvall a 6-foot-4 240 lb DL from Marianna, Isiah Jackson a 5-foot-10 160 lb Athlete from Conway, Carson Knowlton a 6-foot-2 205 lb LB from West Memphis, Derek Owens a 5-foot-8 160 lb WR from Russelville, and Dustin Hopper a 6-foot-2 190 lb S/OLB from Conway.
Arkansas State picked up some quality In State talent as well. They were able to get Tyler Barnes a 6-foot-4 290 lb OL from Bentonville, Najel Byrd a 6-foot-0 215 LB from West Helena, Timothy Starson a 6-foot-5 209 lb DE from Fort Smith, Taylor Stockemer a 6-foot-4 200 lb WR from Van Buren, and Dewayne Watts a 5-foot-11 185 lb ATH from Bearden.
Add these fine young men to the already impressive list of In State talent that signed with the University of Arkansas as well as the young men who signed with out of state Division 1 schools, it just goes to show that Arkansas High School Football is producing quality Division 1 talent all over the State. For that, you must give credit to the fine coaching staffs, and the hard work and determination of the young men who push themselves every single day during football season, and off season as well, to be the best they can. This also goes to show that all of that hard work and determination pays off when your high school career comes to an end.
We are still gathering information on UAPB's signing class, and will update that as soon as all information is gathered.
ArkansasVarsity.Com would like to congratulate all of these fine young men on their accomplishments, and wish them the best of luck in their collegiate careers.
