Will the Oakland Raiders choose Darren Mcfadden for the 2008 NFL Draft?

The top talent in this year's draft class comes off the board with the fourth overall pick. Does anyone really think Al Davis will have a problem cutting ties with budding star Justin Fargas to bring in the physical specimen who could dominate games a la Adrian Peterson? Back-to-back runner-up finishes in Heisman voting, while playing in the nation's toughest conference are notable achievements on McFadden's resume. His above average size to go along with 4.4 speed give McFadden the potential to give opposing coordinators headaches for years to come.

Note: as per the NFL, the Raiders will end up with either the #3 or #4 overall pick in the draft.
McFadden is a rare talent who has incredible potential as a pro. The Raiders ended up with a 1,000 yard runner in Justin Fargas (4.5 yards per carry) in 2007, but the addition of McFadden would be a huge upgrade for the Oakland offense. He could easily be a day one starter; he does all of the little things right, he blocks hard, he doesn't take plays off, and he has an explosiveness that the Raiders haven't seen since Bo Jackson.

Justin Fargas had a great end to this season, but if McFadden is still on the board, it would take a major brain fart for Al Davis not to take McFadden. McFadden and JaMarcus Russell would make for one exciting offensive backfield. If McFadden is gone, look for DT Sedrick Ellis a possibility to replace Warren Sapp.

I recently argued that Al Davis would take Chris Long so his team could go back to its glory days and actually win more than eight games a season. The
Oakland Raiders managed just 27 sacks and couldn't stop the run this year. Long, son of a Hall of Fame defensive end who played 13 years in the Bay Area, would instantly improve Oakland's defense.
After thinking about it, Davis loves flashy players. He drafted JaMarcus Russell last April, and would love to pair him with the top prospect in this class. Granted, Justin Fargas was exceptional this year, rushing for 1,009 yards on a 4.5 average. However, he's a free agent and will be commanding a hefty contract. Why would Davis commit a lot of money to him when he has McFadden waiting for him on Draft Day?
As of Jan. 13, there's a chance McFadden may not enter the draft because either he or his father forgot to fill out the paperwork. How can you forget something like that? Seriously - McFadden had one thing on his agenda after the
Cotton Bowl. And he didn't remember to do it. Nice. If McFadden doesn't make it out of Arkansas, there's a good chance the Raiders go ahead and take Howie's son.

2. Oakland Raiders: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
The Oakland Raiders, should be set at quarterback with JaMarcus Russell at the helm. McFadden will be to talented to pass up unless Dallas trades up here, which is highly likely.
