Free agent safety Greg Wesley will spend time with the Oakland Raiders on Sunday and Monday, a league source tells us.
Wesley was cut earlier this week by the Chiefs, who had been unable to trade him.
The third-round pick in the 2000 draft spent his entire career in Kansas City, signing a three-year deal as a rookie, a one-year tender as a restricted free agent, and a six-year contract before hitting the market.
He started every game as a rookie at strong safety, and didn’t give up his grip on the starting lineup until last season. He has 103 total starts in eight NFL seasons.
In Oakland, Wesley would have a good chance of cracking into the rotation. Behind presumptive starters Gibril Wilson and Michael Huff, the Raiders have only Jarrod Cooper and Hiram Eugene on the roster.
